DIY Photo Coasters

So today was the first of our monthly "Pinterest Club" get togethers. (Which I guess I was elected President of. Haha.) We had a great time and were able to create some adorable coasters. 

The jest of our club is that every month we will find a DIY idea found from Pinterest and get together to create it. I have been determined to make one of the million things I have pinned on my "Getting Creative" board on Pinterest for forever now and just never got around to it. So I now FINALLY have a reason to do one every month now. And crafting is always funner when you have others to share it with. :)

This month we created some adorable photo coasters.

Here is the step by step on how to create these awesome coasters.

Items you will need:

*Mod Podge

*Paint Brushes

*Photos of your choice

*Tile Pieces (I chose 4x4 tiles, but you can go bigger if you'd like)

Tile pieces can be purchased at Lowe's for around 35cents a piece

*Scrapbook paper (If you would like to back your images)

*Paper Cutter (or scissors)

*Felt Pieces (for the bottom of your coasters)

Step #1:
I began by cutting out my photos to a smaller size than my tile piece. (I purchased 4x4 tiles) I didn't want to cut my images too small and not be able to get the full picture in there, so I just cut little by little until they fit well placed onto my tile pieces. Then I cut the other photos to the same size.

Step #2:

I then coated each of my coasters with Mod Podge, and placed each of my photos on top of them. If you were wanting to back your images, you would instead put your background paper onto the coaster at this time. (I chose not to put a background paper on mine due to the small size of my tile piece compared to the size of my images I printed). Once you place your image onto your tile piece, you will wait 20 minutes (or until dried).

Step #3:

Once dried, you will add another coating of Mod Podge on top of your image (as well as the top parts of your coaster that are showing. You will again wait 20 minutes to allow it to dry, then repeat this step 3 more times. (A total of 5 coats of Mod Podge)

Step #4 (Final Step):

Once your finished adding your Mod Podge and they are all dried, you will add your felt pieces to the bottom of your coaster. We had purchased the sticky kind to avoid having to glue them to the bottom.

And Wha-La! Coasters! I am so in love with mine. I used a few images I had taken on my birthday this year at the Indianapolis Zoo.

I loved being able to get a little creative today and hang out with all the girls! I loved how everyone's coasters turned out! I can't wait for next month's get together!
